Agreeing to these terms
Muckraker is made by Nishchay, an independent developer in India (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the app, or using this website, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
If you don’t agree, please don’t use Muckraker.
Who can use Muckraker
You must be 18 or over. Laws on playing poker for money differ from place to place, including between states in India. It’s up to you to make sure your game is legal where you play.
What it is, and isn’t
Muckraker is a tool for keeping a record of a live poker game you’re playing in person, and for suggesting your move. It is not a gambling service. It doesn’t take bets, hold money, move money or settle debts. Every amount in it is a number you typed in.
Advice is advice
The advice model’s recommendations, the app’s own maths and every player read are estimates. They can be wrong, and they’re only as good as what you logged. A close spot means even the advice isn’t sure.
You decide what to do at the table. Whatever you win or lose is yours, not ours.
Fair play
Use Muckraker only in games where everyone at the table knows you’re using it. Don’t use it:
- in a casino, card room or club that doesn’t allow phones or outside help at the table;
- in any tournament or league whose rules ban it;
- in online poker, or to help anyone else gain an edge the table hasn’t agreed to.
Using Muckraker in secret is cheating, and it ends your right to use it.
Other people’s information
Muckraker records how other people play, under names you give them. You’re responsible for that information. Tell the people you play with, use names they’re comfortable with, and delete anyone who asks.
Your licence
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Muckraker for your own games. You may not:
- sell, rent or offer Muckraker or its advice as a service;
- misuse our relay to the advice model or our backup service, for example by calling them from outside the app, flooding them, or trying to reach other people’s data;
- reverse engineer the app to do any of the above, except where the law allows it regardless.
Muckraker, its name and its design are ours. These terms don’t give you any rights in them beyond using the app.
Getting the app
Download Muckraker only from the official releases linked on this site. Copies from anywhere else may have been changed, and we can’t vouch for them. Installing an APK means allowing your phone to install apps from outside the Play Store; do that only for sources you trust.
Services the app uses
The advice comes from a decision model run for us by TypeSafe. Backup, if you turn it on, is stored with Supabase. Downloads are served by GitHub. These services may be slow, change or stop, and we can’t promise they’ll always be there. When the advice can’t be reached, the app shows its own maths instead and says so.
No warranty
Muckraker is provided free, “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we make no promises that it will be accurate, uninterrupted or free of bugs, or that it will suit your purpose.
Limits of liability
As far as the law allows, we’re not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, for money won or lost at any game, or for lost data. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law doesn’t allow us to limit.
Stopping
You can stop using Muckraker at any time by uninstalling it. We may stop offering the app, the relay or backup. If we do, we’ll say so on this site with reasonable notice, so you can keep a copy of your data.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top, and if a change matters, we’ll say so on the front page. If you keep using Muckraker after a change, you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes go to the courts of India. If you use Muckraker as a consumer outside India, you keep any protections your local law gives you.
